Year of Running Reboot Update

It has been way too long since I've written here.  I'm better about updating on mapmyrun.com.  I could set that to update here, but that would be really boring.

So, I've been doing well.  I had an awesome, fantastic run last month on new shoes, without my inhaler, and I doubled my distance/time.  It was great.  I did 4.17 miles in about 57 minutes and felt good.  I'm  not super sure on how many minutes were running, because I was trying to run it out at the end, but the end was farther than I thought, LOL.

I went ahead and bought cheaper shoes, because it doesn't seem to matter a whole lot which shoes I wear, as long as I have good inserts in them.  So far, I haven't put my good inserts in the new shoes, but I think I will next time I run because my knees have been sore, which definitely could be a shoe thing.  Other than that, they're great.  Saucony trail runners that were only $60, so I hope they keep working.

I haven't been running regularly, partly because of weather and time.  But I have been good about doing something almost every day, and I'm seeing a difference.  In fact, I've been weighing myself every week at the gym and today I am 8lbs under my known highest weight.  Not sure when I was last that weight (not too long ago), but I was kind of stagnant for a while. It's nice to see it going down.  I really want to lose a noticeable amount before I see my friends & family in the end of April.

I also had a good run last Saturday night.  The day almost went by without a workout, but I realized that the whole family needed something, so I packed hubs and dogs in the car and we went for a late-night run/walk.  Seth walked & the dogs ran with me- even the little dog tried to run a bit.  I wasn't timing myself, but was following my heart rate, and I believe that I was rocking!!  Now, my perception may have been off, but I swear I was running (jogging, at least at first) for like 5 minutes, then slowing down for sometimes less than a minute until my heart rate was down again.  It was sweet.  I'll have to do it again soon.

I've had a slow workout week because my asthma has been worse than ever, and I think I may be fighting something, too.  Believe me, I'm as sick of feeling sick as you are of hearing about it.  I think that my body is successfully fighting whatever it is, but it's making me really really tired.  And the asthma doesn't help.  Ah, the perils of hanging out with students. (the sickness).
